Top restaurant CEOs paid 788 times minimum wage, data show
Chief executives at the nation’s top restaurant companies earn more in a single morning than the average minimum-wage cook, dishwasher or server does in an entire year, according to research from the Economic Policy Institute.
Last year, head honchos at major eatery chains reeled in $11,884,000 on average, including options, according to the institute. In 2008, they made roughly $3 million in overall compensation
When I read stories like this it tells me how disconnected the executives are at these companies. When many of their workers make about 15K on average it shows the lack of sense when it comes to taking care of the people that help make an executive wealthy. Many of these workers get government help because they don’t make enough to live on their wages. I would pay a little more for my food if I knew that the money would help low paid workers make a better living and get off the government hand out train.
Strike away food workers!
